Indian crypto exchange CoinDCX’s Twitter account has been hacked and the exploitor is using the account to promote a fake XRP giveaway. PeckShieldAlert warned of the phishing attack on Indian crypto exchange CoinDCX’s Twitter account on Tuesday.
Indian Crypto Exchange CoinDCX Hacked
Blockchain security platform PeckShieldAlert in a Tweeter on September 20 reported that Indian crypto exchange CoinDCX’s Twitter account had been hacked. The exploiter uses the Twitter account to promote a fake XRP giveaway. Therefore, users are advised to avoid clicking any link on suspected fraudulent messages.

“Looks like Indian crypto exchange CoinDCX Twitter account @CoinDCX has been compromised and has been used by the exploitor to share links to fraudulent sites XRP REVEAL.”
The exploiter(s) leave messages that the CoinDCX exchange is pumping XRP. Additionally, he announced a giveaway of 100,000,000 XRP to support the community. The phishing message looks like this:
“Today we are pumping XRP. To support our community, we are announcing 100,000,000 XRP GIVEAWAY. Note: You can only receive a bonus once. Please hurry!”
Additionally, the exploiter(s) even changed the account name, display image, and other details to match Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse’s Twitter account. They also retweeted tweets from Brad Garlinghouse’s Twitter account to trick readers into clicking on suspicious links.
CoinDCX announced that the team is working to recover the Twitter handle @CoinDCX. Additionally, the crypto exchange warned users not to click on any links or messages received from the @CoinDCX Twitter account. The team will share updates on the situation soon.
