Created in 1983, the archaeological museum of Val-d’Oise preserves more than 35,000 objects. It exhibits 3,000 of them along a journey linking prehistory to contemporary times.

From the carved blocks of the ancient sanctuary of Genainville, rebuilt in the middle of the 2nd century AD, to the concrete statues of the Soviet pavilion erected in Paris in 1937 for the International Exhibition of Arts and Techniques of Modern Life, recently found in an icehouse from the Château de Baillet-en-France, masterpieces abound!

Throughout the year, a rich and varied program allows everyone to discover and learn while having fun: visits, workshops, conferences… The temporary exhibition is suitable for all audiences, even the youngest.

La Passerelle, from excavation to exhibition, born from the imagination of the company Le Toucher Minuscule, is a new space dedicated to young audiences. From research to prospecting, passing through development, all the links in the archaeological chain are reconstituted. The children take turns in the shoes of an archaeologist engaged in an excavation, a researcher working in a laboratory, a museum curator curator of an exhibition. At each stage, multiple observations, analyzes and manipulations allow them to decipher an archaeological site in Val-d’Oise.

NEW ! Our museum is going digital!

Immersive headsets will give you a 360° view of the Genainville site today, as if you were there! Then you will travel in time and be transported 2,000 years back to discover the site at its peak, in 3D reproduction.

A touch table will allow you to relive and navigate through 60 years of archaeological research on this site, to discover the succession of occupations from the Iron Age to the present day, to enter the temple or the pavilion in an interactive visit, or again to test your knowledge with a fun quiz.
