Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia–(Newsfile Corp. – June 26, 2022) – Deputy Minister of Commerce DR. Jerry Sambuaga traveled to Malaysia, invited as a speaker at a seminar on the development of the Asian blockchain community. The event lasted for 2 days from June 24 to June 25, during which the Vice Minister of Commerce had the opportunity to be the keynote speaker on June 24. On this occasion, the Deputy Minister of Commerce explained the progress and direction of crypto trading which is rapidly growing in Indonesia.

Jerry pointed out that “Crypto trading is regulated by CoFTRA (Bappebti) under the Ministry of Commerce because crypto in Indonesia is classified as a commodity and not a currency, rupiah is the only means of trading. exchange or currency that is legal tender in Indonesia according to Indonesian. right”.

During the seminar held both physically and online (hybrid) with participants from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, New Zealand, Canada, India, Vietnam, United Arab Emirates , Venezuela, the United States and Europe, Dr. Jerry also called on Indonesian crypto players to continue innovating. and educate the public so that they can use crypto as an investment instrument. To crypto players outside of Indonesia, the Vice Minister of Commerce invites them to invest and enter as players in the crypto industry in Indonesia.

Jerry further stated that Indonesia is a potential future market with a demographic bonus that supports the development of the crypto industry. Indonesia will also have a crypto exchange which aims to protect crypto players from the side of crypto consumers, traders, and coin or token developers. This concept is important because only by providing certainty and protection for all can the crypto industry progress. “We can’t sustain technological advancements, but we can choose what’s good and what’s not by providing sufficient education and clear protection to all industry stakeholders.”

The crypto industry in Indonesia is growing very rapidly with an increase in the total number of registered transactions as of December 31, 2021 reaching a total of 859 trillion rupees (58 billion USD) and the number of registered investors reached 12.5 million users. This was conveyed by the Deputy Minister of Commerce during a panel discussion with Mr. David Rhoades, Head of Global Marketing, Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) Mr. Harpreet, Malaysian Blockchain Association.

At the end, the Vice Minister of Commerce also answered several questions from the attendees regarding the excitement of the players regarding investment opportunities and the direction of crypto development in Indonesia.

The event ended with a photoshoot with crypto players and the hope that the crypto industry in Asia, especially in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore, can share a common vision for future developments. .
