Vitalik Buterin releases a book on the Ethereum blockchain

His book, titled “Proof of Stake”, brings together his writings on blockchain for ten years. It will be available from September 27.

Want to know more about Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of the Ethereum blockchain? The 28-year-old billionaire and little computer genius has decided to tell in a book his journey and the reasons that led him to found this blockchain in 2015. He announced the news this Wednesday on Twitter:

The physical and digital book, entitled “proof of stake” will be available from September 27, i.e. (hopefully) after the transition The Merge of Ethereum expected around September 15. For the most impatient, it is already possible to order a digital copy of the book.

“Donate any amount of Ether above to receive an NFT and a book digitally signed by Vitalik. You will receive a non-transferable NFT and when the book becomes available you will have access to your digital copy signed”, underlines the official site.

These writings “collected from his articles before and after the Ethereum breakthrough, reveal that Buterin is a lively and imaginative writer”, can be read on the official website of the book.

Ethereum prepares for The Merge

The title of his work “proof of stake” is not the result of chance. The Ethereum blockchain has been preparing for years for the transition from a so-called “proof-of-work” operation (or proof of work, which is used in particular by the Bitcoin blockchain) to that of “proof of stake” (proof of stake). And this transition is imminent, around September 15th.

As a reminder, one of the objectives for the Ethereum blockchain is to move towards carbon neutrality. Concretely, Ethereum will go from a “proof of work” to a “proof of stake”. Proof of work is putting tens of thousands of computers in competition working on the same thing at the same time. If this method is characterized by its good level of security, its big drawback remains the extremely high consumption of electricity. This is in particular what the bitcoin cryptocurrency was criticized for during the debates on the Market in crypto assets regulatory text last March in the European Parliament.

For its part, with the proof of stake or proof of stake, finished the cryptographic enigmas to be solved: to guarantee the security of the chain of blocks, the minor candidates must put in a common pot 32 ethers and it is according to a system drawing lots that they will be chosen to validate the transactions. In fact, a switch to The Merge would imply that there would no longer be any miners within the blockchain, the tests on the Ethereum blockchain carried out for several years beginning to prove this new trend.

Vitalik Buterin intends to work on the development of the crypto ecosystem and in particular to help the developer profession with the sale of his book. Thus, the proceeds from the book will be donated to Gitcoin, an open-source platform that allows developers to be paid.
