Meta announced on June 30 the arrival of new features on Facebook allowing users to expose their NFTs. These come a few months after the launch of Digital Collectibles, a similar tool, but on Instagram.
Facebook’s turn to welcome NFTs
It was through a tweet that Navdeep Singh, Head of Product at Meta, teased what’s coming to Facebook for owners of non-fungible tokens next. In a new tab available on their profile, entitled “digital collectibles” in English, they will be able to share the NFTs they own through publications visible directly in their newsfeed. By clicking on it, it will then be possible to know to which collection they belong and who is the author.

A Meta spokesperson revealed to TechCrunch that ” the company has begun to slowly roll out this feature to a select group of creators in the US “. If Mark Zuckerberg indicated that this test would allow creators to publish their NFTs simultaneously on Facebook and Instagram, the spokesperson for the giant of social networks specified that this functionality was not yet available.
Also, Facebook did not communicate on the supported blockchains and wallets.
A sense of deja vu
This novelty is in all respects similar to the one released on Instagram last May. With Digital Collectibles, users of the social network can already highlight their NFTs in publications, but also in their stories.
At the moment, only collections available on the Ethereum and Polygon blockchains are accepted by Instagram, with plans to include Flow and Solana. For compatible wallets, the feature accepts those from Rainbom, MetaMask, and Trust Wallet. Those of Coinbase, Dapper and Phantom should follow in the near future.
