Auction of 10 emblematic sites of Cannes in the form of NFT: a world first!

Are you interested in a piece of Cannes? A funny auction of ten digitized Cannes sites is offered on June 21.

The town hall of Cannes, in partnership with the company Pertimm, has digitized places in the city in the form of NFT (Non fungible token/Token non fungible). Old port, Palais des Festivals, Forville Market, La Croisette… Eleven emblematic sites are thus “transformed”.

Ten will be sold this Tuesday, June 21 at 6 p.m. at the Port Canto Harbor Office duringan auction organized by the famous Artcurial auction house.

More than a simple sale of NFT, it is a future experience to live in the metaverse that we will offer to buyers and investors, a way to project themselves into another dimension but on the very real bases of 10 iconic places in Cannes. The field of possibilities is at your fingertips!

Arnaud Oliveux, auctioneer & Associate Director, Artcurial.

This world premiere was launched on the occasion of the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity which takes place since yesterday and until June 24th.

Here’s what to expect:

Single piece (edition 1/1) including within a ledger key:
– NFT Standard ERC-721 issued on the Ethereum blockchain Related metadata: MPEG-4 file 1280 x 720 px
– ERC-721 standard NFT issued on the Ethereum blockchain Related metadata: 3D file in gITF format (necessary for building implementation).

Starting bid: €10,000

Inevitably, it seems a bit complex and less glamorous than the real walk along the beach. But it’s good ua 30 x 30 cm 3D print of the place which will be given to the purchaser.

On this occasion, the municipality will give him a 3D model of the real representation of the digitized place and the secure digital key containing the NFT.

Mayor David Lisnard will offer a Cannes resident an eleventh NFT, representing the Campus Georges Méliès, by drawing lots.

Acquirers can then implement these NFTs in a metaverse platform of their choice. This operation aims to promote the attractiveness of the Cannes destination through the enhancement and promotion of its historical heritage, vector of identity and authenticity. It also makes it possible to support the development of companies with high technological added value in the territory of Cannes.

David Lisnard, LR mayor of Cannes.

Here is the Croisette:

Digital art and NFTs are making inroads especially in ArtBaselthe great contemporary art fair, with stars of the art market like the American Jeff Koons launching themselves into this booming segment.

Art galleries from the Côte d’Azur as well. Videos, animated paintings, drawings… these dematerialized creations are turning the art world upside down.

Only 6% of galleries worldwide sold NFTs in 2021.

Jeff Koons, one of the most expensive living artists in the world, plans to install 125 miniature versions of these sculptures called “Moon Phases” on the moon with a photograph of their location, sold in the form of NFT (Non-fungible token, or non-fungible token).

Buyers will also receive a life-size sculpture, set with a stone
valuable for marking its location on the moon.

Recently, David Cronenberg put up for sale an NFT of a photo of his kidney stones…

While art-related NFT sales volumes soared to $945 million in August, they fell back to 366 million in January and then to 101 million in May, according to a report.

“I think NFTs are going to have a place in the market in the future,” Marc Spiegler, the director of Art Basel, told AFP, even if their prices have “collapsed recently” at a time when artists are multiplying their experiments with digital tools.
