Château Pape Clément launches its web3 and uses NFT technology to create its club

It is the prerogative of free and creative spirits: you never find them where you expect them. On the occasion of the 770th harvest of Château Pape Clément, in Pessac Léognan, many expected from Bernard Magrez celebrations featuring the history of the property, a new testimony of recognition to Bertrand de Goth, Archbishop of Bordeaux, one of the first owners of the estate, then called the Vignoble de la Mothe. This last ; once named Pope in 1305, took the name of Clement V. The estate still bears his name today.

Well no. Instead, the Grand Cru Classé is looking to the future, moving on to web3 and selling 1,252 NFTs that will work like so many membership cards. Why 1252? Simply because it is the date of the first harvest of the castle. What will be the benefits of joining this club? Firstly, members will be able to follow, over the months, the creation of the 770th vintage thanks to new content on a dedicated space, accessible via the NFT. They will also be able to become owners of a limited edition cuvée from Château Pape Clément, vintage 2016 (96-98/100 by James Suckling). They will still be able to acquire a numbered digital work, a digital reinterpretation of this vintage of Château Pape Clément. The work is specially created by the artist Pierre Blaise Dionet, founder of the art studio Cityshake, recognized for its production of digital art. For the occasion, the artist has created an abstract reinterpretation of Château Pape Clément.

In addition, the membership card will give exclusive access to exceptional experiences and products, such as primeurs from Château Pape Clément, openings, concerts or tastings at the various properties of Bernard Magrez, such as the Institut Culturel Bernard Magrez, La Grande Maison or the startup incubator. How to become one of the 1252 members? By going to the site now and by registering on a priority list allowing access to the preview sale scheduled for November 8, 2022. Each NFT will be offered for sale at a price of €310. The NFTs put up for sale, each of which contains a 3D digital work, are accessible from the dedicated application available on IOS and Android.

It should be noted in passing that Château Pape-Clément makes special use of NFTs. In the world of wine, the technology of “Non Fungible Token” is generally linked to the fight against counterfeiting. It is also a solution for owners who wish to follow the successive resales of their bottles while obtaining a commission for each new transaction. But the Bernard Magrez company takes another step aside and gives these digital assets a more cultural and community dimension. We expected no less.
