Mailchimp suffers data leak; Yuga Labs is one of the victims!

Mailchimp has announced that it suffered a hack that compromised the accounts of several customers, including Yuga Labs.

The Mailchimp messaging platform recently suffered a data breach that affected several accounts, including those of Yuga Labs. The company behind Bored Ape Yacht ClubMeebits and CryptoPunkshowever, states that users’ NFTs are safe.

Yuga Labs reassures its users

“Yuga Labs teams only used the service occasionally and for specific purposes. An unauthorized actor may have accessed our account data. However, there is no evidence that the data has been exported,” the company said on Thursday, January 19.

Yuga Labs also revealed that the Mailchimp account data “only came from a marketing campaign aimed at a select group of people.” Likewise, the company clarified that the compromised data has nothing to do with the non-fungible tokens.

The Yuga Labs team also clarified that they will only contact affected individuals from a Yuga Labs email address, and only if their data has been compromised. However, the company calls on its customers to exercise caution.

According to Mailchimp, the security flaw has been detected January 11. The next day, the company’s technical team took additional security measures to protect its users. In total, dozens of customers were affected.

We also note that this is not the first time that Mailchimp has suffered such an attack. Less than six months ago, a hacker used social engineering methods to gain access to dozens of crypto business accounts.

These indirect attacks against the crypto industry are becoming more and more frequent. Hence the importance of be careful of suspicious emails and messages and never open a link whose source is not known.

NFT Sewer Passes attract collectors

Despite the crisis, Yuga Labs displays unfailing optimism. In full bear marketthe company launched a new NFT collection called Sewer Pass which all BAYC and MAYC NFT holders will get for free.

The company also announced the launch of Dookey Dash, an endless runner game that requires holding a Sewer Pass. As expected, sales skyrocketed after the announcement. Similarly, the Sewer Pass collection has grossed over $6 million in just a few hours.

Moral of the story: Mailchimp is one of the biggest email services in the world, but it hasn’t escaped hacking. It is therefore important to keep in mind that cyber attacks can affect any platform.
