NFT: Astronauts can now share their experiences in space

After artists, athletes, celebrities and even charities, it is now the turn of astronauts to try their hand at NFTs. Retired American astronaut Scott Kelly is convinced that technology will allow people practicing this profession to better share their experiences in space with those who do not have this privilege.

A potential that could benefit the development of space

Although no longer an active astronaut, Scott Kelly is curious to see how NFTs and blockchain technology could impact this profession. He estimates that the latter will reap enormous benefits based on the potential of the technology. ” I have developed a growing curiosity about how it will play a role in the development of space, which is something I would love to be a part of. said Mr. Kelly. He therefore made the decision to initiate a charity action based on NFTs. The retired astronaut launched an NFT collection titledDreams Out of This Worldwhich recreates his journey through space in digital works of art.

This enabled him to raise $500,000 which will be donated to the non-profit organization Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) to help those affected by the war in Ukraine. “The Ukraine crisis is something very close to my heart, which is why we will be donating 100% of proceeds from the initial sale to Global Empowerment Mission to support relief for Ukrainians. I’m grateful to start a project at a time that allows me to support them in a way I might not have been able to on my own.said Mr. Kelly.

A way to prevent memories from getting lost in the mass

After this successful experience, Kelly now hopes his foray into the NFT business will encourage other astronauts to do the same. In addition to their ability to quickly mobilize funds around a common cause, the veteran noted that NFTs enable better safeguard memories, while giving them added value. “NFTs can offer astronauts a new outlet to share their experiences, rather than posting them on the internet where they can quickly get lost in the shuffle“, he said.

Indeed, the uniqueness and inviolability of NFTs make it possible to ensure that their content remains authentic even if they change hands. This is a property to which astronautics should not be insensitive, the conservation of archives being essential for the development of this science.

Far from having dampened my enthusiasm, an unsuccessful investment in 2017 on a few cryptos only increased my enthusiasm. I therefore resolved to study and understand the blockchain and its many uses and to relay with my pen information relating to this ecosystem.
