Samsung is rolling out Wallet, its all-in-one digital wallet!

Samsung announced on Thursday the launch of Samsung Wallet. This digital wallet will allow consumers to store and access their digital IDs, loyalty cards and keys. It will also allow them to make payments, among other upcoming features.

Owners of Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States will only need to open Samsung Pay or Samsung Pass and follow the instructions to integrate Samsung Wallet. They can also go to the Galaxy Store to download this digital wallet. Note that eligible Galaxy phones must be compatible with Samsung Pay and running Android 9 Pie or later.

Thanks to Samsung Wallet, owners of Galaxy smartphones and tablets will be able to store digital car keys and use them with certain BMW, Hyundai and Kia models. They will also be able to store boarding passes. Later this year, the Samsung Wallet will enable the use and storage of official IDs, such as driver’s licenses and student cards.

Better protection against hacking

Samsung Wallet also supports seamless integration with Samsung Blockchain Wallet and Samsung Pass. Samsung Blockchain Wallet allows cryptocurrency holders to keep tabs on their investments and currently supports holding and trading Bitcoin, Ethereum, ERC20 tokens (Ethereum-based tokens), Tron, TRC10 tokens, and TRC20 tokens.

Samsung Pass stores user passwords behind biometric authentication. Samsung Wallet also integrates with SmartThings to allow users to unlock certain doors. Everything stored in the Samsung Wallet is protected by the Samsung Knox security platform. Cryptocurrency holders will be happy to know that there is additional encryption for sensitive data like keys and passwords, kept in an internal, isolated environment called Samsung Knox Vault.

According to the South Korean giant, this new platform must further improve the protection of its users against digital and physical piracy. “Samsung Wallet brings a new level of everyday convenience to mobile devices with a completely safe and secure environment for storing digital keys, cards and more,” said Jeanie Han, Head of Digital Life at Samsung, in a press release. .

“As part of our commitment to open ecosystems, we will continue to expand the capabilities of Samsung Wallet by working closely with our trusted partners and developers,” said the leader during the presentation of this highly anticipated new platform. .
