The annual event hosted by Tribeca Productions – Tribeca Film Festival – has reportedly signed a deal with cryptocurrency platform OKX. The deal (worth tens of millions of dollars) will turn the exchange into one of the biggest sponsors.
OKX joins the movie industry
According to a Wall Street Journal cover, the collaboration between the two parties will last for the next three years. During this period, OKX will inform filmmakers and moviegoers about the benefits of cryptocurrencies and Web3 technology.
Being the main sponsor of the Tribeca Film Festival, the platform could finance the production of films made for the Metaverse. At the same time, it plans to allow cinema participants to receive digital currencies for their work.
Jane Rosenthal – general manager of the event – said the festival will introduce non-fungible tokens this year, revealing intentions to dive deeper into the NFT realm in the years to come:
“We want to provide the tools to creators. Over the next few years, we’ll be looking at it, helping them create those stories, and partnering with hardware providers like Facebook. »
Commenting on the collaboration with OKX, Rosenthal noted that both parties have similar visions and ambitions for “advancing new ways to tell stories and new ways to support artists across all categories.”
The Tribeca Film Festival is a major event that takes place every spring in New York. This year, it will take place from June 8 to 19 in Manhattan. Founded by Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff in 2002, it aimed to revitalize New York’s cultural life after the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center.
Previous OKX partnerships
In March this year, the Seychelles-based digital asset platform teamed up with England’s Premier League champions – Manchester City – to become its official cryptocurrency exchange partner. Although the full terms of the agreement were not disclosed, it is known that it will be a “multi-year” collaboration.
Last month, OKX continued its interaction with the sports industry by signing an agreement with the main Formula 1 team – McLaren Racing. The initiative turned the trading platform into the team’s biggest sponsor.
Shortly after, the Italian-Australian driver who races for McLaren Racing – Daniel Ricciardo – signed up with OKX on a personal basis. He will be its ambassador during the 2022/23 season and lead an educational campaign for F1 fans focusing on the merits of crypto.
Additionally, he started wearing a special racing helmet with OKX’s logo. Last weekend, the Monaco Grand Prix was the first track where the driver rode with his new outfit.
